Luke Ward (Club Director/Owner) has been the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach for the Lady Trojans at Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois since May 2015. Prior to accepting this position, Ward assisted part-time with the Olivet Nazarene University Women’s Volleyball team for 3 years and spear-headed the ONU JV Women’s Volleyball team Head Coach for 2 years while teaching P.E. and Health full time in Watseka, Illinois. Ward was on the ONU staff for a variety of volleyball clubs, skill clinics, and recreational sports camps varying in skills and ages including athletes from 9 – 18 years old, and has been the head clinician the past four years at the ONU summer volleyball camps. He was the Volleyball Director at High-Five Sports Camp in Chicago, Illinois in the summer of 05’ and 07’. In 2008, Luke began coaching for Competitive Edge Volleyball Club in Bourbonnais, Illinois, and in 2011 was asked to Coach the 18 Elite team for UNO South Volleyball Club in Kankakee, Illinois. Luke was also the 7th/8th Grade Volleyball Coach for St. George CCSD #258 in 2010-2011, and has been the 7th/8th grade Coach for Glenn Raymond in Watseka, Illinois since 2011; in 2014 and 2015 Ward brought the Lady Warriors to compete in the Sectional Championship. Coach Ward is also passionate about playing volleyball. He played 3 years varsity on his high school volleyball team at Whitney Young High School in Chicago, Illinois and was elected to the Chicago Sun-Times All-City Team in 2005. Ward was a four-year starter on the ONU men’s club volleyball team. His senior year, Luke was responsible for running practices and coordinating game times and schedules. He currently resides with his wife and their three children.
Erin Ward (Admin/Recruiting Coordinator) graduated from Olivet Nazarene University with her Master’s in Teaching in 2009, and her B.A. in Psychology with minors in Communication Studies and Sociology in 2006. Erin has been working closely with children and teens in both education and recreation since 2001. After earning her bachelor’s from ONU, Ward returned to her home town, Bartlett, Illinois, and accepted the full-time position of Assistant Aquatic Director at the Bartlett Park District, where she previously worked as a lifeguard, swim instructor, crew manager, pool manager, and day camp director. In this role, Ward was responsible for the day to day operations of the indoor and outdoor aquatic facilities which included the hiring, training, payroll, and management of over 50 staff members with a heavy focus on safety training. As the Assistant Aquatic Director, Ward was also an Ellis Lifeguard Instructor and Preschool Gym & Swim instructor. In 2008, Ward earned the Life Saving Award from the Bartlett Fire Department and the Golden Lifeguard Award from Ellis & Associates for her life saving efforts. Additionally, Ward organized and planned many special events and assisted in the rewriting of the Bartlett Park District Customer Service manual for all staff members. In 2009, she received her teaching certificate and taught as a 5th grade classroom teacher at St. George School in Bourbonnais, Illinois from 2009-2013, where she actively served on the discipline and handbook committee.
With over 35 years of coaching experience, Coach Williams (FCV Consultant) brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to First Contact Volleyball Club as a coach and consultant. For the past 19 years, Williams has been the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach at Olivet Nazarene University and celebrated her 800th win and counting this season. Additionally, she serves as an assistant professor in the Dept. of Exercise and Sports Science. From 1980-1991, Williams was the Head Volleyball Coach at the University of Alabama-Birmingham while founding the state of Alabama’s first volleyball club, Birmingham Juniors and directed and coached with Divers Volleyball Club in Illinois until 1997. William’s notable resume included her service to the American Volleyball Coaches Association board of directors, USA Volleyball board of directors, past President of the NAIA Volleyball Coaches Association, CCAC conference and national rater and Co-founder/President of National Invitational Volleyball Championships (NIVC). First Contact Volleyball is honored to have Williams as a part of the team!
Julia Fahy (16 Elite Head Coach) is in her first year as a Graduate Assistant for the ONU Women’s Volleyball program. She graduated from Taylor University in 2016 with a B.S. in Public Relations Systems and is currently working towards her Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership. At Taylor, Julia played on the women’s volleyball team and was named Team Captain in 2014 and 2015. She earned many awards throughout her career including AVCA Honorable Mention All-Region (2015), AVCA First Team All-Region (2014), Crossroads League First Team All-Conference (2014 & 2015), Crossroads League Honorable Mention All-Conference (2013), NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete (2014 & 2015), and made the Dean’s List from 2012-2014.
Jillian Worby (Head Coach) played Division 1 Volleyball for Charleston Southern University in Charleston, South Carolina from 2003-2007, where she earned her B.S. in Social Sciences with minors in Fine Arts and Humanities. As a student at BBCHS, Worby played on the varsity volleyball team, while playing club at 2nd City Volleyball in Evergreen Park. She has coached several teams in the area including the Freshman team at Bishop McNamara in 2007 and 12s/13s at Impulse in Manteno from 2010-2011. She currently works full time at Oak Orthopedics and is the ONU Women’s JV Head Coach.
Becky Eller, (Head Coach/Agility Training) plays Outside Hitter, for Olivet Nazarene University’s Women’s Varsity Volleyball team. In the summer of 2014, DeRuiter directed, organized, and coached a junior high summer volleyball clinic for Velocity Sports Performance in Tinley Park, Illinois. Additionally, she coached the 14s team at UNO South and has assisted with several ONU camps and clinics for athletes ages 9-18. Since joining FCV in the Fall of 2014, DeRuiter was the Assistant Coah for 18 Elite and Head Coach for 18 Blue. Coming from Chicago Ridge, DeRuiter’s major at ONU is Business Administration with minors in both Sports Management and Spanish. In her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors and reading.
Alex Ewalt (15s Head Coach) joins the FCV Team from Danvers, Illinois. She is currently a student athlete at Olivet Nazarene University, majoring in Science Education with an endorsement in Chemistry, while playing Outside/DS for the ONU Women’s Varsity Volleyball Team. Ewaly joined FCV’s Fall session as the 14U Assistant Coach and has helped with ONU Summer Camps. In Spring of 2015, she coached the 14s team at Illini Elite Volleyball Club in Bloomington. Ewalt has a passion for Volleyball and also enjoys playing board games and hanging out with her family.
Aly Rink (Volley Kids and Jr. High Assistant) is a Junior at Herscher High School. She began training in 4th and 5th grades in a league called TIES, but officially began competing in 6th grade through her school program. Aly continues to play at her local high school and at FCV in a variety of roles including setter, middle hitter, outside and passing back row as a libero. As a freshman, Rink was voted the best team leader in club. The following year, she was voted team glue, or the person that kept the team together when we were down, earning that honor while she was out the entire season due to injury. Aly loves playing and instructing volleyball!
Ellie Adamson (Assistant Coach) reigns all the way from San Diego, California and comes to the table with a passion for volleyball. Ellie set for Olivet’s varsity volleyball team from 2015-2016. Recently, she decided to hang up her gym shoes to pursue a nursing degree, dreaming of working in the ER one day. Her sophomore year, she earned First-Team All Conference and setter of the week multiple times. Ellie has experiece coaching for a 13s team at Coast Volleyball Club based out of San Diego, ONU summer camps, FCV’s volleyball clinics, 13s team and with the 16 Elite team. Ellie’s favorite activities include playing beach volleyball or hanging out on the beach with her friends.
Sidney Bohac (15s Assistant Coach) is a returner to FCV. She played for our 17s team her Junior and Senior year of high school but grew up playing travel volleyball at Competitive Edge and UNO South in Kankakee. She graduated from Herscher High School where she also played for four years. She’s continued her playing career at Olivet Nazarene as a Freshman Setter on the Women’s Junior Varsity team. She’s majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences with a minor in Business. She has helped coach summer volleyball camps at Herscher along with ONU summer camps this past year. Bohac loves playing and coaching the sport and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
